Convenience Center Attendant - Part-Time ID - 15136

Summary The Convenience Center Attendant is responsible for monitoring incoming traffic to the Center and/or overseeing the yard waste disposal area at the center. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are representative of the work required for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.

Other duties may be required and assigned. Residential identification check to verify they are Macon-Bibb residents Guides, directs, and spots all incoming vehicles to designated dumping areas. Regulates number of vehicles dumping in any one area at the same time.

Advises and guides vehicles discarding certain chemicals or debris to specific designated areas. Keeps watch on center equipment working in area to ensure safety and help to prevent accidents or bodily injury. Assists in preventing scrounging in dumping areas.

Determines necessity of emptying dumpsters. Completes special projects and performs other miscellaneous duties as required. Education, Training and Experience Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma or GED, and some work experience involving the monitoring/direction of traffic flow; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid Georgia Driver's License (CDL Preferred). SUPERVISORY CONTROL AND RESPONSIBILITIES: None. TRAVEL: The Convenience Center Attendant will travel infrequently.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The Convenience Center Attendant must be knowledgeable of the following principles, procedures, and concepts: Considerable knowledge of safety techniques and practices used in spotting vehicles preferred but not mandatory. Basic working knowledge of personal computers and the ability to operate word processing and database software programs to keep simple records, as required. Ability to perform necessary record keeping pertaining to position held.

Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and with members of the general public. (ADA) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and understand written materials.

Ability to effectively communicate information to supervisors, co-workers, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in written form in a professional manner in order to give or exchange information, resolve problems, and/or provide service.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to interpret and understand a variety of forms, reports, manuals, regulations, and other means of instruction and guidance.
