Job Description Summary: Strategic Product Consultant (SPC) - Vertical Focused Product Expert

Job Description:

The Role:

As a valuable member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of exceptional payment solutions for our enterprise merchant offering through strategic partnerships. Key aspects of this role include:

  • Client Aptitude: You will have the opportunity to directly engage with global enterprise clients on an ongoing basis. Your expertise will support sales teams and provide valuable advice to successfully close deals with large enterprise merchants.
  • Connector: Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams such as Product and Engineering, Finance, Support, Global Sales, Professional Services, and Account Management, you will leverage internal resources and external partnerships to drive business outcomes.
  • Global Reach: This is a global role that involves interacting with various teams and offices within PayPal, as well as engaging with our clients and partners worldwide. You will have the opportunity to foster strong relationships and contribute to the success of our organization on a global scale.
  • Distilling Complexity: As a key contributor, you will play a pivotal role in training and educating the organization on areas such as payments and the broader commerce ecosystem. Your ability to distill complex concepts into clear and actionable insights will be instrumental in empowering teams across the organization.
  • Evangelizing: In this role, you will serve as a thought leader for enterprise merchants. This includes engaging in merchant communication, participating in conferences, collaborating with partners, and hosting webinars. Your expertise and insights will contribute to industry-wide knowledge and best practices.

Skills, Experience and Education:

To excel in this role, the following skills, experience, and education are required:

  • Payments Industry Expertise: A minimum of 5 years of experience in the payments industry, particularly in large enterprise card and payment processing. Your deep understanding of the industry landscape and trends will contribute to your success in this role.
  • Business-to-Business Sales and Relationship Building: Demonstrated experience of 2-3 years in business-to-business sales, relationship building, and business development. Your ability to build strong partnerships and drive successful sales outcomes will be essential.
  • Partner Relationship Development: Proven track record in identifying, developing, and contracting partner relationships within an enterprise context. Your experience in forging strategic partnerships will be instrumental in meeting business objectives.
  • Enterprise Merchant and Marketplace Expertise: Hands-on experience working with the processing and payout needs of enterprise merchants and marketplaces. Your understanding of their unique requirements and challenges will enable you to provide effective solutions.
  • Regional Payments Experience: Strong payments experience within specific markets or regions such as EU, UK, EMEA, APAC, or LatAm is required. Your knowledge of regional payment dynamics and regulations will contribute to successful implementation strategies.
  • Effective Communication Skills: Adaptable and eloquent communicator with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at various levels, including product teams, engineering teams, and clients. Your communication skills will be essential in driving collaboration and aligning objectives.
  • B2B and Product Software Proficiency: Experience with B2B and product software tools, including but not limited to Powerpoint, Salesforce, Jira, and Sharepoint. Your proficiency in utilizing these tools will enhance your productivity and effectiveness in the role.
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree is required, while an advanced degree is preferred. Your educational background will provide you with a strong foundation for understanding complex business dynamics and strategy.
  • Preferred Buyer Experience: Previous experience as a buyer of payment processing services is preferred. Your firsthand understanding of the buyer's perspective will enable you to empathize with merchants and provide valuable insights.
