WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN AN BOOKKEEPER (PART-TIME)


We are seeking a detail-oriented and versatile Bookkeeper to join our Chicago-based team in a hybrid part-time role. This position offers a blend of remote and in-office work, providing flexibility while maintaining personal interaction with the team.


Responsibilities:

Accounts Receivable and Payable
Client Communication
  • Manage and respond to client accounting emails promptly and effectively
  • Provide excellent customer service, addressing financial queries and concerns
Bookkeeping and Financial Review
  • Perform regular reviews of bookkeeping records to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Reconcile accounts and prepare financial reports as needed
  • Assist in maintaining detailed and organized financial records
Compliance and Regulatory Matters
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations
  • Help maintain internal controls and support audit processes
  • Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and practices
State Entity Correspondence
  • Manage correspondence with state entities regarding tax and business matters
  • Prepare and submit required state filings and reports
  • Assist in maintaining good standing with state authorities
Digital Asset Management
  • Assist in maintaining and updating password control for various digital assets
  • Ensure security protocols are followed for all financial software and platforms
Tax Preparation Support
  • Gather and organize financial documents required for tax preparation
  • Assist in reviewing financial data for potential tax deductions and credits
  • Support the tax preparation process (excluding the actual filing of tax returns)
Additional Duties
  • Assist with other accounting or administrative tasks as needed
  • Support team projects and initiatives when required
  • Adapt to changing priorities and take on new responsibilities as the role evolves

Qualifications:

Education and Experience (one of the following):
  • High school diploma or equivalent with 2+ years of relevant Bookkeeping experience
  • Associate degree in accounting, finance, or related field with 1-2 years of experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field (preferred but not required)
  • Relevant accounting certificates or certifications (e.g., Certified Bookkeeper, QuickBooks Certified User)
  • Minimum of 1 year working experience in Quickbooks is required
Required Skills:
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Experience with both in-office and remote work environments

Additional Information
