This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Kansas City, Kansas on a full-time basis.<br><br><strong>The Role <br><br></strong>As the <strong>Stamping Shift Leader,</strong> you will provide leadership for Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE) for the total press shop. You will be responsible for providing direction and assistance to your team. This position will require you to rotate between all 3 shifts on a 3-to-4-month basis.<br><br><strong>What You'll Do<br><br></strong><ul><li>Knowledge of the total stamping production process</li><li>Communicate status to other shifts</li><li>Champion of allocated BPD activities</li><li>Discuss weekly production plan with production control</li><li>Make adjustments to the schedule as needed as a result of production problems</li><li>Allocate manpower as needed to each press line, plan release for training</li><li>Maintain shift safety by audits, observation and follow up of all incidents</li><li>Maintain and improve machine up time</li><li>Prevent recurrence of breakdown causes</li><li>Ensure TPM program is on track</li><li>Discuss major downtime causes with maintenance weekly and request corrective action</li><li>Sign off on standardized work charts and agree with all shifts</li><li>Lead shift meetings for SPQRC</li><li>Report shift status to operations manager</li><li>Coach and mentor Group leaders and improve their general performance</li><li>Ensure GM-GMS is followed</li><li>Liaise with customers for quality problems and co-ordinate countermeasures</li><li>Support area manager to resolve manpower issues in conjunction with union</li><li>Ensure cost control achieves budget needs</li><li>Must be willing to rotate shifts</li><li>Understand and comply with the terms of local and national labor agreements<br><br><br></li></ul><strong>Your Skills & Abilities<br><br></strong><ul><li>3 years of manufacturing experience</li><li>Ability to work rotating shifts (rotating between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd every 3-4 months)<br><br><br></li></ul><strong>What Will Give You A Competitive Edge<br><br></strong><ul><li>3+ years of manufacturing experience</li><li>Leadership experience</li><li>Stamping experience</li><li>Bachelor's degree</li><li>Highly developed oral & written communication skills</li><li>High level of interpersonal skills</li><li>Knowledge of basic stamping and manufacturing processes</li><li>High level of analytical ability</li><li>Knowledge of and coaching experiences in Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS)</li><li>Demonstrated technical<br><br><br></li></ul><strong>This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.<br><br></strong><strong>About GM<br><br></strong>Our vision is a world with Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions and Zero Congestion and we embrace the responsibility to lead the change that will make our world better, safer and more equitable for all.<br><br><strong>Why Join Us<br><br></strong>We believe we all must make a choice every day – individually and collectively – to drive meaningful change through our words, our deeds and our culture.
