This position is considered a Safety-Sensitive position. Applicants who pass the interview process will be subject to drug and alcohol testing.

The purpose of this class within the organization is to maintain the overall cleanliness of the facility and surrounding grounds and set-up for activities and meetings.

The Custodian at the Bradley Museum is a key member of the City of Murfreesboro’s Parks & Recreation team, responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized museum environment. This position ensures that all museum spaces—including galleries, restrooms, event areas, offices, and public spaces—are clean, orderly, and ready for daily operations or special events. Duties include routine custodial work, light maintenance, facility oversight, and guest support. This role requires strong attention to detail, reliability, and flexibility to support museum needs on weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays.

 

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

 

Essential Functions:

Guest Service and Support
  • Greets and assists museum visitors in a courteous and professional manner.  
  • Provides information about the museum’s layout, programming, or amenities. 
  • Ensures the museum environment remains welcoming and safe for all guests.

TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS

 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Three (3) months of janitorial or custodial experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of facility operations, cleaning equipment, and safety procedures.
  • Must be dependable, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Special Certifications and Licenses:

  • Driver's license required
  • CPR/AED certification preferred or must be obtained within three (3) months of hire.
