Human Resources Generalist id - 16541
The HR Team is focused on what the 15 diverse city departments need and work to provide it. We’re searching for a qualified and resourceful HR Generalist. As the HR Generalist, you will support the team in ensuring smooth and efficient operations including employee relations, benefits and leave administration, learning and NeoGov HR system coordination.
Examples of Duties
• Plans, conducts, and administers recruitment activities; confers with department heads and key personnel in the development of job requisitions; develops recruitment requisitions for publication; prepares job vacancy advertisements; reviews employment applications; coordinates and conducts recruitment assessments and interviews.
• Participates in the development of department strategic plans; may assist in the development of the department budget.
• Interprets and advises staff regarding personnel policies and procedures.
• Develops and conducts new employee orientation.
• Assists with coordinating employee training and education; may facilitate training.
• Analyzes, develops, and revises computer applications and department forms; updates the department website.
• Lead or participate in HR-related projects, such as system implementations, and policy overhauls.
• Provides guidance to staff regarding performance evaluations.
• Performs benefits administration duties; processes status changes; processes claims; communicates benefits information to employees.
• Performs monthly benefits billing and reconciliation.
• Coordinates and plans open enrollment and benefits fair.
• Calculates pension benefits estimates; works with retirees to ensure a smooth transition.
• Processes FMLA requests and FMLA timecard tracking; assists departments and employees with ADA process.
• Coordinates WSI program participation and ensure adherence to workplace safety policies and procedures, including overseeing injury reporting, workers' compensation claims, and safety protocols and conducts safety meetings.
• Assist department with employee relations.
• Lead and/or participate in conducting investigations and recommend appropriate actions to resolve employee concerns and grievances.
• Performs duties to support HR Department operations as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
*Qualifications for grade increase from Grade 17 to Grade 19 for Senior Human Resources Generalist.
1. Three to five years of professional HR experience.
2. Mastery of core HR areas to include: Payroll or Benefits, Recruitment, Family Medical Leave, Safety and General HR Administration.
3. Human Resources Certification.
