Recreation Leader II ID - 16234

To take a leadership role in the supervision of participants and staff in the afterschool and summer camp programs. To assist with organizing and supervising activities, preparing staff schedules, and inventorying supplies. To act as the designated person in charge in the absence of full-time staff. To assist and supervise the public with usage of various Parks and Recreation facilities. To lead participants in a variety of recreational activities; to supervise the use of equipment and supplies; to enforce the rules and regulations of the Recreation Center; and to assist in organizing and implementing activities for the recreation program. Light cleaning and custodial duties as needed.

  1. All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct and Rules of Behavior outlined in Chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual. Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in city and department attendance policies and procedures.
  2. Supervise groups of participants and staff, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are in place.
  3. Update sign-in/out sheets and monitor daily attendance.
  4. Assist with preparation of staff schedule, payroll, inventorying supplies and activity schedule.
  5. Monitor participant accounts for timely payments.
  6. Act as the designated person in charge in the absence of Full-time staff.
  7. Unlock and lock facilities for usage for various activities including reservations, programs or as directed by a supervisor.
  8. Conduct assessments of facilities prior to usage and at the conclusion of events. Complete necessary paperwork and communicate effectively with customers.
  9. Conduct daily recreational activities such as sports, games, dances, exercise, arts and crafts classes and other special events for program participants.
  10. Maintain inventory control on all games and equipment; maintain an accurate and current listing of users.
  11. Observe safety precautions; correct minor safety problems; conduct activities in a safe manner; maintain discipline at indoor and outdoor recreation areas.
  12.  Provide public with information and answer questions regarding facility usage and programs. Collect fees and register participants for programs, leagues and memberships. Enforce City and Department policies and procedures.
  13. Assist in completing necessary forms and records including participation cards, attendance records, maintenance checklists and financial reports.
  14. Assist with department special events.
  15. Work a varied schedule, including days, nights and/or weekends. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9 a.m. – 10 p.m., Saturday 9 am – 9 pm and Sunday 1 p.m. – 6 p.m

 

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED.  
  • Minimum one-year experience as a Recreation Leader I.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
  • Obtain First Aid and CPR certifications with 90 days of employment. 
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
WORK SCHEDULE
  • Must be able to work 15-20 hours per week
  • Typically will work Monday - Friday; 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
