If so, we want YOU to join our Water Utility Division team at the City of Janesville (CoJ) as a Customer Service Representative (CSR)!

As a key member of our team, you will handle a variety of customer service and clerical duties necessary for the efficient operation of the customer service work group of the Water Utility. 

In this role, you will:

  • Provide excellent customer service via phone or in-person visitors by accurately relaying information, work scheduling, screening and referring callers to appropriate staff or department, including handling complaints.
  • Contact customers for service appointments by telephone or mail.
  • Track and record Utility fees for Diggers Hotline Service.
  • Manage Fire Hydrant meter program.
  • Perform office support related duties and provide coverage for the Water Utility Administrative Assistant.

What qualifications are necessary for the role?

To perform the essential duties of the position, the minimum education and prior experience required includes:

  1. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  2. Minimum of one (1) year of office support, administrative support, or professional clerical experience with customer service is required.
  3. Access to personal or public transportation for job-related duties.

A combination of equivalent experience and/or education as determined by the Human Resources Office may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements.

 

Supplemental Information

 

What is the pay?

The starting hourly rate for this position is $20.95 per hour; this is a non-exempt position. This position is also eligible for annual economic adjustments and performance-based adjustments, as approved by the City Council.

What is the typical schedule?

This position will work 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, covering the officer hours of 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

    1. Vacation: You will receive a prorated amount of 15 days – based upon the number hours and full months’ work to year end. 
    2. Floating Holidays: You will receive a prorated amount of 3 days – based upon the number of hours and full months worked to year end. 
    3. Holidays: CoJ is closed for eight (8) holidays each year and you will be paid for these days based on your regular hours worked.
    4. Sick: You will earn a prorated amount of 8 hours of sick time each full month worked, based upon the amount hours worked
