Position Description

 

THIS IS A PART-TIME TEMPORARY POSITION
THIS POSITION MAY END AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE NEEDS OF THE DEPARTMENT

Under the general supervision of the Adult Sex Crimes Supervisor(s), the Deputy Investigator performs duties related to criminal investigations of sex crimes and related allegations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receive and monitor C.O.D.I.S. (Combined DNA Index System) offender notification letter(s)
  • Adhere to State law as it relates to the timely documentation of DNA collection attempts
  • Potential interview of suspects
  • Prepares detailed reports
  • Subpoena medical records, therapy records, and any other items needed for case presentation
  • Testifies in court
  • Executes search warrants
  • Conducts surveillance
  • Assists other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in conducting criminal investigations
  • Performs other assignments and duties as required and/or necessary

Requirements

 

  • Must be an Honorably Retired Peace Officer
  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in law enforcement
  • A minimum of (2) years prior patrol and/or criminal investigative experience with any law enforcement agency. 
  • Must have an active TCOLE Peace Officer License 
  • Must present a professional image

Knowledge of 

  • Texas Penal Code 

Skilled In

Ability To 

  • Prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment to meet strict deadlines
  • Work independently as well as in a team environment

 

Preferences

 

  • Bilingual

HOURS:      
  • A minimum of 20 hours per week with a maximum of 30 hours per week
  • Hours are based on the needs of the department
