Recreation Attendant - Part time ID - 15525

Summary of Position

 

Works under general supervision, assists with recreation activities, provides customer service to members and guests, and operates the front desk.   

Morning Shift - 6:00am to 10am

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Welcomes new and existing members and assists them with getting acquainted with our facilities.
  • Monitors front desk and assists with customer service needs.
  • Keeps facility clean, tasks include but not limited to:  picking up & discarding trash, straightening chairs and tables, cleaning windows, and cleaning accidents/spills.
  • Assists Recreation Programmers with the execution of programs, activities, and special events.
  • Performs customer service and clerical duties as needed such as taking payments, record keeping including but not limited to center memberships, rental agreements, class registrations, answering phones, etc.
  • Makes reservations for City facilities in the recreation software.
  • Communicates verbally and in writing regularly with participants, citizens, the general public, and other agencies.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies inventory for City facilities. 
  • Assists with set up and break down of equipment including tables, chairs, stages, etc. during the course of special events, classes, activities and meetings.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education or Training:  High school graduate or GED is preferred. Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License. One (1) year progressively responsible work experience in recreation preferred or equivalent work experience. First Aid training and CPR certification is preferred or ability to obtain within first six (6) months of employment.

Any work-related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to operate assigned equipment and vehicle and to adhere to all safety guidelines. Possible exposure to irate citizens.

  • Ability to work alternate schedules as assigned, which may include a.m., p.m. and weekend shifts.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and judgment when dealing with confidential information.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with effective customer relations.
  • Ability to determine urgency of situations needing attention, intervenes as appropriate, and notifies Recreation Supervisor or appropriate personnel.
  • Ability to communicate with diverse groups including but not limited to: employees, managerial staff, public officials, children, and the general public while providing excellent customer service.

  • Skill in providing exceptional customer service in person, by email and by telephone.
  • Skills in typing, compiling reports, and knowledge of Microsoft programs preferred.
